Here comes another free antivirus system and it’s pretty decent. Branded itself as an innovated cloud security system, Kingsoft Antivirus 2012 delivers a speedy, light-weighted, and yet powerful antivirus system on your computer with defenses that covers every aspect in your internet life. You are fully protected in a shield when surfing the net.
It’s extremely easy to install and can be done within a minute, thanks to its OneKey Install process. You can download the software right from their website. There are two versions you can download, one with the minimum setup and the other with the full program and data. Either one works the same and extremely well.
Kingsoft Antivirus 2012 has 5 different types of defenses built in the system.
- Web defense
- IM defense
- Video defense
- Download shield
- USB defense
That covers pretty much everything to keep you safe while surfing on the internet. A safety and worry-free drive on the internet freeway should be much appreciated and enjoyable.
All defenses are using Kingsoft’s brand new K+ defense boundary technology that proactively defenses and intercepts popular viruses.
Kingsoft Antivirus 2012 also has the standard 3 types of virus scans in place, full scan, quick scan, and custom scan, as well as the USB drive scan to protect the external USB storage devices. It utilities its own Smart Scan that is fast, smart, and light to make a normal scan being down within minutes.
Other Cool Features
It also has two very cool features that I rarely see from other antivirus problem.
Anti-Hacker scans and checks your computer security status to find out if there are any “backdoors” open that may be exploited by the hackers. And you can fix these doors right in the program.
Vul Fix under Utilities to scan and find if there are any vulnerabilities existed in your system that need to be repaired. If so, again, they can be repaired right in the program.
What is that cloud thing?
Kingsoft Antivirus 2012 is a full packed program that can be run with or without the cloud feature. The cloud feature is an add-on option that you have the choice to opt in or not. What it does, when you choose to opt in, is that if there are any unknown suspicious executable files detected, Kingsoft Antivirus will automatically upload them to their cloud security center for further analysis.
You can choose to join or not join from Settings dialog box that can be launched from system tray.
Kingsoft Antivirus 2012 is very well done antivirus program from an AV vendor that has been around for a while. Not like many others that interferes with other antivirus system you already have in place, it’s fully compatible and works with others side by side without any side effects. And that adds another level of security to your computer system.
Both AntiHack and VulFix can be extremely useful that tells you if there are anything left need to be patched before it’s too late.
However, it’s hard to claim if an antivirus program is certainly a winner over the others without the extensive test in security. Since we don’t have that kind of laboratory to fulfill a full test, we can only judge by what we’ve seen. By saying that, it seems to me that it’s definitely worth a spot in our top free antivirus picks.
